Configuring AutoInstall SSL to Automatically Renew SSL Certificates
By default, AutoInstall SSL is configured to automate the entire certificate lifecycles (including certificate renewals, updates, and re-installations) to ensure your SSL certificate never expires.
AutoInstall SSL will automatically issue and install a new certificate:
- When your existing certificate is 28 days from expiration
- If your certificate is ever scheduled for revocation by the certificate authority (this happens only rarely)
You can customize how many days before expiration AutoInstall SSL replaces the SSL certificate by editing the AutoInstall SSL configuration options.
Notes:
- If you purchased a multi-year SSL certificate, AutoInstall SSL will take care of re-issuing and updating the SSL certificate every year so it doesn’t expire.
- Be sure that you keep the “Automatic Renewal” option enabled on SSL certificate order. This will renew your order about 30 days before it expires. AutoInstall SSL will automatically issue and install the new certificate about 2 days after that.
- If AutoInstall SSL detects a problem that will stop it from replacing an expiring SSL certificate (for example, if your SSL certificate order didn’t renew due to an expired credit card), we’ll send you an email alert.
