In certain cases, you may need a PFX file containing your certificate and private key, to be able to use it on a separate system. AutoInstall SSL offers an export function to meet this requirement.
Caution
- A PFX file should be stored securely because it contains your private key
- Keep in mind that you’ll need to re-export and re-install a new PFX anytime AutoInstall SSL updates your certificate (before expiration, for example)
How to Export a PFX Certificate
To export the PFX file for the certificate installed by AutoInstall SSL, please follow the steps below:
- Open Command Prompt (CMD) or Terminal and run the following command:
- AutoInstallSSL.exe (for Windows)
- sudo runautoinstallssl.sh (For Linux)
- Select the third option, “Get Help”, and press enter.
- Choose the “Get PFX Password” option and press enter.
- Select the domain name and press enter.
- You will then see the PFX file path and password displayed on the screen.
